The Writing Table is a podcast for writers and book lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or curious about the writing life, pull up a chair. Hear from authors from every stage-from New York Times list-makers to debuts. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes view of your favorite books-from writing the ugly first drafts to the final editorial processes.
Check out interviews with Phillipa Gregory, Jennifer Weiner, Lemony Snicket, Laurie Frankel, and so many others. Come on in-there’s always room at the writing table.
Hosted by Kris Clink, author of Goodbye, Lark Lovejoy and Sissie Klein is Completely Normal. Kris’s novels are set in middle America where front porches offer the best views, books are treasured, and there’s always room to pull up an extra chair at dinner. A native Texan, she’s now at home in Kansas with her husband, two spoiled pups, and the gorgeous cardinals who visit her back deck.
Sarah Flocken is an upmarket fiction author. She is also a public relations professional, comedian, improviser, and pun contest host (yes, it’s a thing). Sarah’s poetry, essays, and short stories were published in school literary journals throughout her teen and early adult years. After that, she turned her attention to building a career in public relations, where she’s written millions of words for other people in the form of op-eds, speeches, press releases, whitepapers, sponsored articles, talking points, Senate floor remarks, and more. She is currently the owner and principal of SLH Communications, a PR consultancy in San Diego, California. Outside of her day job, Sarah has written short plays, sketch comedy and stand-up routines for over 10 years, including a run with the Edinburgh Revue at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Additionally, she is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. She currently performs with two improv comedy groups in San Diego, and hosts Pundemonium! San Diego’s Only Pun Competition. Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in English and Comparative Literary Studies from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and a master’s in Literature & Modernity: 1900-Present from the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. She lives in San Diego with her husband. Her new novel is Be Well.
